The Iowa Summer Writing Festival will begin offering online workshops across the genres for writers at all levels, with registration beginning today! They will be starting small with two workshops beginning in November—one in poetry, the second in flash fiction. An advanced novel workshop is coming in January, and a workshop in the novella in spring. They will be adding more workshops—many more—in the weeks and months ahead.
Online workshops in the Festival will be led by the extraordinary writer/educators in the Festival community many participants know already.
Due to the risks of gathering in person, the Festival is not planning any on-campus events for this summer yet. They will commence that planning when it’s safe to do so. While everyone longs to come together in Iowa City again, the Festival is inspired by the new opportunity the online initiative gives them to offer workshops and other programming throughout the year, in a variety of formats, to longtime friends and to others for whom an in-person Festival is out of reach.
For details about the workshops starting in November and January, see “Online Workshops” on their webpage: https://iowasummerwritingfestival.org. Registration for these workshops opens this Thursday, October 29. Class size is limited to ten.
