The Fall 2019 issue of The Iowa Review has arrived! Its pages invite readers to cozy up and fully immerse themselves in the words, worlds, and narratives that lie within. At the beginning of autumn, these poems, stories, and essays inside this issue promise to transport to places faraway, and offer solace through the experiences of others.

This issue features work by Jose Hernandez Diaz, Justin Cox, Anthony Varallo, Belal Rafiq and many more. Also included in the issue: jellyfish, a guide to surviving weddings, the U.S. border crisis, a bad grandma, Arthur Russell, sloths, improv, and mannequins.

The Iowa Review is a literary magazine based in the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Iowa. Founded in 1970, it publishes three print issues per year featuring the best in poetry, fiction, and literary nonfiction. Work from its pages is consistently selected to appear in such anthologies as Best American Essays, Best American Short Stories, Best American Poetry, The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses, and The PEN/O.
