In collaboration with The University of Iowa's International Writing Program, Autumn Hill Books, an Iowa City non-profit corporation, will receive an Iowa Arts Council Mini Grant this fall to support the translation of Slobodan Novak's award-winning novel Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh (1968).

The novel, published in 1968, received every major literary award available in the Yugoslavia of its day, including the Matica Hrvatska Prize for the best book of prose, the Vladimir Nazor Prize, the Nin Prize for the best novel, and the Vecernji List Critics' Prize. Novak, a leading author of Croatian literature, has been translated into seven languages and adapted for four feature films between 1966 and 1991. He lives in Zagreb and on the island of Rab.

The book will be published in the English translation of Celia Hawkesworth, Emerita Senior Lecturer in Serbian and Croatian at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College, London. It is due to be released in November.
