I was adopted. Before my birth, the adoption agency had to tell potential parents that I would have lung problems. I was in the hospital for six weeks after birth. I wrote this for my mother, who is struggling with the whole “God thing” for Mother’s Day.
Some prove God
By the stars in the sky.
Others prove God
With the butterfly.
Some prove God
Using the Bible’s words.
Others prove God
With the Trinity thirds.
Some use war,
Others use love.
The power of a storm,
Or the symbol of the dove.
My proof is simple,
God’s existence is true.
I needed a mother—
He gave me you.
