The Nonfiction Writing Program is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor Inara Verzemnieks (NWP '13) has won the prestigious Anšlavs Eglitis and Veronika Janelsina Literary Prize for her memoir Among the Living and the Dead.

Granted by a foundation established in honor of two famed Latvian writers, the award is one of the largest in Latvian literature and comes with a $20,000 prize. According to the foundation, "This book is important in our nation's history. 

The beauty and richness of the author's language combines with historical events, demonstrating great literary significance and worth."
