Each month a different talented writer-teacher from our area will run a Generative Writing Workshop, inviting participants to write from an original prompt — and then write along beside participants as they explore where that prompt leads. The goal is to create a supportive environment in which writers can generate new writing and meet others interested in the same. After writing, there will be the option to share what has been created and receive feedback. This month's workshop leader is Micah Bateman:
Micah Bateman is a poet living in Iowa City, where he teaches and works for the University of Iowa's International Writing Program. He has won awards and fellowships in poetry from Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, and the Poetry Society of America. His poems are anthologized in Privacy Policy: The Anthology of Surveillance Poetics and The Poet's Quest for God: 21st Century Poems of Faith, Doubt, and Wonder.
